There was a #bringbackourgirls concert in the US yesterday.Karrauche attended and posted pictures on her instagram page..It was met with harsh criticism as some said what has drinking champagne got do do with bringing back the girls..Many actually thought she was at a club and randomly tagged the pictures with #bringbackourgirls..
The benefit concert was hosted by Tyrese Gibson & Friends at 1Oak in West Hollywood.They say Proceeds raised from the benefit will go directly to UNICEF's programs that help protect children in Nigeria.

My issue with Ibinabo still stands' – Clarion Chukwura

Last week, we saw this pic of Clarion Chukwura with Ibinabo Fiberesima and Teco Benson and we assumed that all was well in Ibinabo/Clarion universe, but not so quick people. According to Clarion, her issues with the AGN president still stands. She explained how the pic came about and her surprise at seeing it on the internet.

"When I got the award, I came and met my team, the Royal Arts Academy, and we all hugged and took pictures. As I was going back to my seat, Ibinabo got up and hugged me and beckoned the photographers to take our picture. As I stepped away, Rita Dominic also got up and hugged me and also asked the press photographers to take our pictures.

“When we got to the airport, Teco Benson came to me and said he wanted to minister to me and he also beckoned to her and she came close. I told Teco that I didn’t have anything against Ibinabo. This is an AGN issue. We should be real about the issue. The following day, somebody called me and told me about the picture. I was surprised,” Clarion tells Punch

Nigerian 19-yr-old, who tested HIV-positive after she was gang-raped, seeks justice

 Helen (surname withheld) will be 20 years on October 10. But she now bears a burden that is too heavy for her age. She was gang-raped in January this year and was diagnosed with HIV last month. Due to the heart-rending experience and the medical diagnosis that followed, the once cheerful and vivacious Helen now wears a long face as she carries with her the psychological burden of the experience.
After secondary school in 2008, Helen wanted to further her education, but being the fifth of 11 children comes with its own challenge. “Na the condition of no money, na im prevent me from going further,” said Helen when asked why she had not bothered to continue her education.

Despite her background, Helen was unperturbed. Determined that she would return to school some day, she began working as a cleaner in a big firm at Lekki, Lagos, from where she hoped to save for school. She had worked there for almost a year before the tragic episode that altered her life dramatically took place. It was with a deep emotion that she recounted her ordeal.

Sterling filed a federal lawsuit againt NBA

Donald Sterling has filed a lawsuit against the NBA for more than $1 BILLION, claiming he was unconstitutionally bullied out of the league.

Sterling filed a federal lawsuit Friday afternoon ... claiming the NBA booted him from the league based on what he called an illegal recording that was widely publicized ... painting him as a racist.

As you know ... TMZ obtained the recording and posted it on the website.

Sterling also claims the $2.5 million fine was baseless and a violation of antitrust laws.

Shelly Sterling sold the team late Thursday to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion.  The deal will almost certainly be ratified by the NBA.

RAY J arrested, allegedly spit on police officer

According toTMZ, Ray J was busted by Beverly Hills cops tonight after a disturbance at a swanky hotel allegedly turned into a violent confrontation with officers ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us Beverly Hills PD got a call Friday evening from someone claiming Ray J was causing a ruckus inside a bar at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel ... and officers were dispatched.

We're told hotel staff asked Ray J to leave, but he refused. TMZ obtained photos of officers on the scene questioning Ray and an unidentified woman ... shortly before he was taken into custody -- and we're told he did not go quietly.

Once cuffed in the back seat of a patrol unit ... Ray allegedly kicked out a window of the vehicle.

Right now Ray is getting booked by Bev Hills PD for trespassing, vandalism, resisting arrest, and battery ... according to our sources.

We're told the battery is for allegedly spitting on an officer during the arrest.

John Daly tells TMZ Sports ... he was able to calculate his gambling losses during a 15-year casino binge thanks to tax returns that showed $90 MILLION in losses and only $35 million in wins.

The golf pro recently talked about his betting habit ... and said his net loss was $55 million -- between 1992 and 2007.

"It shocked me," Daly tells TMZ Sports.

Update on Nigerian girl murdered in SA: Body to arrive Nigeria for burial on June 3rd

                     

                              

The body of 20 year old Naizi Evah from Edo state who was stabbed to death in her hostel at the Vaal University of Technology in South Africa willd arrive Nigeria on Tuesday June 3rd for interment, family sources have revealed.

Her Zimbabwean boyfriend, who is the chief suspect in the murder, was earlier arrested by South African police but has been granted bail pending the outcome of investigations.

At a tribute ceremony in her honor at the University premises this week, friends were seen weeping as they shared their experiences with the deceased young lady. One of her friends, Ripfumelo Mukhavele said late Naizi and her boyfriend had a turbulent relationship as they were always breaking up and making up but they never suspected it would end like this. Niazi's elder brother, Michael Evah who was present at the tribute night for Naizi said a case has been filed with the South African police but is hoping that the case is not swept under the carpet.

How did this happen? Lol. It's really a miracle when a flaming gay man, who has lived proudly as a gay man almost all his life turns straight and then have a baby with a woman. Who remembers Antoine Dodson? He's the gay guy who became an internet sensation back in 2010 when he famously helped his sister fend off an attempted rapist ... and told a reporter, "Hide ya kids, hide ya wife, hide ya husbands ... cause they rapin' everybody out here." lol. Y'all remember him?

Nigerian lady found dead in her hostel room in South Africa

                           

                                

Nigerian student Naizi Evah, (pictured above) a third year Computer Systems Engineering student of Vaal University of Technology, South Africa was found dead on Saturday May 2014 in her hostel room, this is according to her friends who are trying to get the media involved in the case. 

One of her friends who reached out to me said prior to her death, Naizi had been in an abusive relationship with a Zimbabwean student, who also studies in same school with her, studying same course. The unidentified man was arrested by police in connection with Naizi's death but was bailed two days after police said they couldn't find any substantial evidence linking him to her death.

The story titled “Get Your Own Man! The 10 Side-Chickiest Side Chicks in Hip Hop” wrote that Kae was the side chick while Chris was dating Rihanna, who was the main girl. Below is what they wrote;

It's official: Apple buys Dr. Dre's Beats Electronics for $3billion

It's official. Dr Dre is set to become the first billionaire in Hip Hop. Apple Electronics announced today that it has acquired Dr Dre's Beats Electronics for $3billion. According to Forbes, Apple paid $2.6billion cash upfront and gave $400million in stock that will vest over time.

The $3billion purchase price includes Beats Music, the sister company that runs a subscription streaming music service. As part of the deal, Beats co-founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine will join Apple in undisclosed roles.
"Music is such an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple,” CEO Tim Cook said in a statement released today.

Nigerian sentenced to 27 years imprisonment in Cambodia

23 year old Precious Chineme Nwoko (pictured above) has been sentenced to 27 years imprisonment by a Cambodian Court for drug trafficking in Cambodia.

Police sources say Nwoko was a ringleader in a heroin smuggling cartel in Cambodia. He was arrested last month for handing a backpack containing 2.2 kilos (4.8 pounds) of heroin to two women, 41year old Australian Yoshe Ann Taylor and 19 year old French Charlene Savarino, for onward transportation to an unidentified man in Australia. Both women were however caught and arrested.

Chibok leader claims 4 more kidnapped nigerian girls escaped from Boko Haram camp

According to a report by Punch, 4 more Chibok girls have escaped from Boko Haram. The Chairman of Chibok Local Government, Mr Bana Lawan made this claim today May 28th at a stakeholders meeting initiated by the National Emergency Manangement Authority, NEMA, for the validation of draft humanitarian response plan for the abducted girls in Abuja. Mr Lawan who was represented by the Director of Personnel and Management, Musa Elijah said the number of girls that have escaped have risen to 57
“The people of Chibok are anxiously waiting for the safe return of their children. Except for the unfortunate situation where two of the parents have passed on. They were known to have BP (blood pressure) issues, although I am not a medical expert, but they will not be opportuned to welcome back their daughters. Latest report reaching us is that instead of 53, those that have escaped are now 57 and those remaining are 164 and not 168 as before. This is out of the 221 girls that were abducted.”

The owner of Manchester United football club, Malcolm Glazer, has died. The billionaire business man who bought Man U in 2005 and also owned NFL team Tampa Bay Buccaneers, died today May 28, three days after his 86th birthday.

He was the president and chief executive officer of First Allied Corporation, a holding company for his varied business interests. He was worth $4billion.

He left behind a wife, 6 children and 14 grandchildren. May he RIP!

The app basically assigns virtual monetary value to women in an attempt to calculate their bride price based on factors such as their level of education, skin colour, nationality, weight, beauty, physical features, accents, country of residence, employment status etc'

I find the app hilarious but apparently not everyone does. A Cosmo writer yesterday described the app as sexist and someone even started a petition asking the app makers to take it down saying that it promotes objectification and misogyny towards women but the guys behind it say its just a joke and should not be perceived as a platform to objectify women. Forbes magazine just released its list of the World's 100 Powerful Women 2014 and two Nigerian women made the list. Renowned poet and author Maya Angelou dies at 86

One of America's most famous poets and writers, Maya Angelou, has died. She died last night with her family by her side in a Winston-Salem, North Carolina hospital while recovering from a mystery sickness, TMZ reports. She was 86 years old.

Angelou was recovering from an "unexpected ailment" that sent her to the hospital. She died with family by her side.

In a Facebook post yesterday, she said doctors had advised her not to travel ... forcing her to cancel a planned trip to Houston, where she was to be honored Friday with the Beacon of Life Award at Major League Baseball's Civil Rights Game.

The famed author has received more than 30 honorary degrees from universities around the world.  She published 7 autobiographies, 3 books of essays, and several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning more than 50 years. May her soul rest in peace.

Nigeria's National Conference delegates vote to tax churches, mosques

Delegates at the ongoing National Conference yesterday May 27th voted unanimously for churches & mosques to pay taxes. The delegates arrived at the decision after deliberating on recommendations made by the Committee on Religion.

A delegate representing Civil Organizations, Mallam Naseer Kura, during the deliberation observed that most religious leaders in Nigeria are now making a lot of money from their organizations and so should be taxed accordingly.

Supporting his arguement, Isaac Ighure a delegate representing the Nigeria Guild of Editors, in his submission said most religious leaders had so much money now to buy jets while their followers are living in abject poverty and asked that they should be made to pay taxes. "Some people buy private jets when people in their churches are suffering and living in abject poverty, they should be made to pay taxes,” he said.

The recommendations to pay tax will be submitted to the National Assembly at the end of the conference and if accepted by the National Assembly, it would then be passed into law. Who agrees that religious organizations should pay tax?

125 Nigerian students to attend Northeastern with full scholarship

125 college students from Nigeria who received full scholarships from the Nigerian government will be attending college in Boston in the fall. The students are set to attend Northeastern University, and roughly half of them arrived in Boston on Monday May 26th.

The U.S. Pathway Program, which consists of a consortium of American universities offering an academic preparation program that becomes a pathway to a college degree, and the Nigerian government are working to fund the students' scholarships, which include money for tuition, books, room and board. Embattled President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberisima has refuted claims that she is an ex-convict. Her worse critic in recent times, actress Clarion Chukwurah had said in an interview with Punch that Ibinabo was an ex-convict and therefore not fit to lead the Actors' Guild.

Ibinabo in an exclusive interview with TheNetng refuted the claims but however acknowledged she was imprisoned for 39 days
"No, I am not an ex-convict…I was charged. I am in court and I am appealing"  she said

Woman Facing Death Sentence in Sudan Gives Birth

Meriam Yehya Ibrahim Ishag, the Sudanese woman facing a death sentence for marrying a Christian, has given birth, Amnesty International confirmed to ABC News.

The woman was sentenced to death for apostasy for marrying a Christian and converting to his religion.

Son of ex-Red Sox player pleads guilty to murdering girlfriend

The son of a former Boston Red Sox player and broadcaster was sentenced to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty on Tuesday to murdering his girlfriend in their apartment outside Boston last August.

Jared Remy, 35, changed his plea to guilty from not guilty at a hearing in Middlesex Superior Court on charges that he stabbed Jennifer Martel, 27, to death after a fight at the Waltham, Massachusetts, apartment where they lived with their 5-year-old daughter.

"That's right," Remy told judge Judge Kathe Tuttman when she asked if he intended to plead guilty to first-degree murder. Remy, son of former baseball player Jerry Remy, said he was suffering from depression.

Five dead as Sierra Leone records first Ebola outbreak

Five people have died in Sierra Leone's first confirmed outbreak of Ebola virus, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Monday, signalling a new expansion of the disease which regional officials said had been brought under control.

Ebola, a haemorrhagic fever with a fatality rate of up to 90 percent, is believed to have killed some 185 people in neighbouring Guinea and Liberia since March in the first deadly appearance of the disease in West Africa.

Previously, several suspected cases of Ebola were recorded in Sierra Leone early on in the West African outbreak, but they later tested negative for the disease.

In a statement posted on its website, the WHO said the outbreak in Sierra Leone was located in an area along the country's border with Guinea's Guéckédou prefecture, where some of the earliest cases of the disease were recorded.

"Preliminary information received from the field indicates that one laboratory-confirmed case and five community deaths have been reported from Koindu chiefdom," it said.
The WHO said it was deploying six experts to the area along with essential supplies.

The West African outbreak spread from a remote corner of Guinea to the capital, Conakry, and into Liberia, causing panic across a region struggling with weak healthcare systems and porous borders.

Australian paper shows Kate's bare bottom

One of Rupert Murdoch's Australian newspapers on Wednesday published a picture showing the bare bottom of Prince William's wife Kate, refusing to follow a "ridiculous" ban imposed by the British media.
The image was taken during the royal couple's hugely successful tour of Australia in April when they showed off their infant son George, and was run in the Sydney Daily Telegraph a day after it appeared in German tabloid Bild, which declared she had a "beautiful bum".

It shows the Duchess of Cambridge's blue and white summer dress lifted by a gust of wind when the royal couple got out of a helicopter in the Blue Mountains, 80 kilometres (50 miles) west of Sydney.
The Daily Telegraph said British newspapers had refused to run the photo out of respect to the royals, but in a comment piece said this was "an antiquated code of etiquette" under the headline "My bare lady: Derri-heir to the throne is fair game."

Pregnant Pakistani woman stoned to death by family

A pregnant woman was stoned to death Tuesday by her own family outside a courthouse in the Pakistani city of Lahore for marrying the man she loved.

The woman was killed while on her way to court to contest an abduction case her family had filed against her husband. Her father was promptly arrested on murder charges, police investigator Rana Mujahid said, adding that police were working to apprehend all those who participated in this "heinous crime."

Arranged marriages are the norm among conservative Pakistanis, and hundreds of women are murdered every year in so-called honor killings carried out by husbands or relatives as a punishment for alleged adultery or other illicit sexual behavior.

Stonings in public settings, however, are extremely rare. Tuesday's attack took place in front of a crowd of onlookers in broad daylight. The courthouse is located on a main downtown thoroughfare.

A police officer, Naseem Butt, identified the slain woman as Farzana Parveen, 25, and said she had married Mohammad Iqbal, 45, against her family's wishes after being engaged to him for years.
